Flight of the Conchords… August 30, 2007

Thes NewZee KIWIS are my latest HBO crush!!  My favorite thing about their myspace page:

Influences Bret “Jemaine”. Jemaine “Bret”.

And my favorite from their official website:

http://www.conchords.co.nz/

A spokesman from the band (Bret) said it there was a five year delay launching the website online due to a ‘disagreement’. Apparently there was debate over how many times letter ‘W’ should appear in the ‘WWW’ part of the web address. While Bret wanted four making the domain name wwww.conchords.co.nz Jemaine was vying for seven with wwwwwww.conchords.co.nz. It turns out that you’re only allowed three anyway.

I have known the theme for this year’s Mermaid Day Parade for some time now.  My delicious little iron mermaiden crew that I am part of has come up with a good one this year, but we have chose to keep you in suspense. We will not technically be Mermaids, but nautical all the same.  This will be my 7th year.  It’s tradition.  Like the 5 minute mini-tv webisodes that SONY is banking on, we will be angels on a mission for 1st place.  CONEY ISLAND, HERE WE COME!

AND….Look out for the future photos of our masks and the parade!

Goil Foiled March 22, 2007

I realized that all I do on my site lately is kvetch about the weather. What the hell, am I that boring. No…Hopefully not. I also spend my free time watching TV. So now I’m admitting to be truly geriatric in my old age. Oh well. Now, back to basics:

I watched a few episodes of TOP DESIGN yesterday. Goil was freaking out, and simply crying like a baby! And I cannot believe Michael.  He simply just DID NOT answer the question. Guess he’s young…and he got booted anyways. He’s right, he’s got many more years to do funky blood on the walls banquet halls and doily lace pillowed hospital rooms. For the record, I liked how Goil said being Thai reflected in his choice of colors, and further for the record I liked the flower chandelier. It was crafty and creative. (Although, I might be a little scared a stray petal might drop in my wine.) It must be strange for all of the contestants since all this happened a while ago. They really DRAMATIZE Carissa’s near mishap with her carpenter.

Bravo does it again! Who is scared of success and cannot take the pressure? Designers you have 5 minutes, 15 seconds. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…Is Matt from Chicago ready for elimination? Did Felicia get her furniture from a garage sale? Did she use the wallpaper properly? What do people think of wallpaper in general….

Does Home Depot know the industry? Do their ads make you think Do-It-Yourself? Do you think your heroes make you who you are?

This week Felicia left gracefully in her Prada dress. That’s too bad, but she actually owns her own business in Los Angeles.

Google: Felicia Bushman and you will see her real interior design style. http://feliciabushman.com

Next up is “The Real Housewives.” It’s a toast to Hollywood fakeness.

“I don’t let my exes drive me crazy…a real quote from The Real Housewives.”

For the record, this is the next show on Bravo…..I don’t normally watch/read/associate with Q-list celebrity TRASH. …Said in true Midwestern Chicago fasion.

with luv,

Top Design, Good Cop Bad Cop January 30, 2007

Who showed and who didn’t? I’m not trying to be be cryptic, but here’s a little advice: if you want to hear the gossip before anyone else, you have to come to my humble little weblog. I know it’s no perez hilton, but I’m workin’ on it. Give a gal some slack.

My day in Grand Central went a bit like this:
1. Display of the S Shuttle promoting Top Design. (That’s the dingy grey train line that matches the the exterior the subway trains.)
2. Meet and greet with Bravo and Top Design Judges and contestants
3. Lunch with editors, designers, and various people from Bravo

The people from the show look like this: (PS: I’m sure they don’t always pose in pyramids unless directed to do so by Jonathon Adler, ((or the art director on the shoot.))

top_design_cast_20.jpg

Today I had lunch with the Bravo camp, along with ALL the possible winners of “TOP DESIGN.” Judges include Margaret Russell from Elle Decor, and designers Todd Oldham and Jonathon Adler. Felicia, an LA-based interior designer and contestant on Bravo’s new Top Design, was to the left of me. Matt, an interior designer from Chicago was to the right of me. Sitting across from me was the Director of Interactive at BRAVO. Bravisimo, indeed (accent on the -i- I don’t do it properly on the blogosphere.) My rissoto, scallops, and molten chocolate tort were DEE-LISH and Top-Chef worthy. (The 1-and-a-half glasses of white wine didn’t help matters.)
Meghan, was there to entertain us all. She also happened to get me a photo with her, Jonathon, Margaret, and Matt. I hope that photo came out well. Thanks again Bravo. Top Design is going to be an amazing show a la Project Runway, minus the models.

The sanster.net ..where reality TV meets the web…”Watch what happens….”

Look out for future posts on why I think the tensions between judges, contestants. design, divas, design-divas, and camera-hoggers, has everything to do with the “GOOD COP, BAD COP” syndrome. The first episode airs Wednesday night after the season finale of Top Chef.

Over n Out ,

Watch This!!
