This site also got me thinking that the one reason I might wait to buy an iphone is this: If Mac rumors has it right, there might be a solar enabled iphone. Holy shit! A mini green machine!

According to the site MacRumors, Apple have apparently filed a patent application to investigate the use of solar cells in their mobile devices, including the iphone and portable computers.

Earthday April 22, 2007

eday.jpg In New York the first day that feels like Spring cosmically aligned with the weekend of Earthday. What better way for mother-E, (a.k.a mother nature) to remind us of her bounty with her sprightly daffodils, magnolias, peonies, and pansies. Today was gorgeous. We just have to figure out a way to keep our planet going, instead of contaminating it with our wasteful ways.

I just saw this pod in Current TV about this fuel-cell powered motocycle that acts as a generator. The only thing it spews is water. No toxins, and it runs on well, intelligent energy

Enjoy the beautiful weather!  Do some deeds and plant some seeds…

Global Warming, I need you../Myspace, MyPrez March 18, 2007

 flake.jpeg Dear Summer and Spring,

Why have you forsaken me?  Where are you? I thought you would have arrived by now.  Are you mad at me for emitting too much Co2 into the atmosphere.  Are you still sore about the time when I complained about humidity and the strange city liquids and smells that the city streets were oozing in June.  I just need a break from all this flippin snow.  I want tank tops and skirts and strappy shoes that don’t need to be rubberized/water-proof/ready-made for ice and hail.  As I listened to “Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me” on NPR, and smirked as Peter Sagal scoffed at a caller who was calling less than 60 degree weather, “COLD,” I pondered on the relativity of the term “cold.”

I n other interesting Sunday news, the styles section of the NYT covers Myspace’s Impact Channel, devoted to politics and the 2008 presidential race.  They quoted none-other than annoying Tom, the friend who you immediately want to move from your “top 8.”

“Tom Anderson, 31, a MySpace founder, said, “MySpace has a method of reaching people who are historically not interested in voting” and may not read newspapers or watch news on television. He added: “A MySpace profile could excite their interest in ways they are used to. In the same way they learn about their friends, they could learn about a candidate.”

So in other words, now you can STALK Barak, Hilary, and the numerous Johns via Myspace because the candidates are not already plastered on every other media outlet…especially if you’re a kid you don’t do anything but troll the internet.

The Solution is You! An Activist’s Guide January 31, 2007

This Speaker’s Corner Book by Laurie David, with forweword by Larry David is a nice little tipsheet on how to stop Global Warming. I found the little pull quotes by celebs, scientists, and journalists to be engaging and practical. From composting, to how to save the polar bears from climate change, this book an easy-to-digest “book that is too hot not to handle.” Apparently “environmentalist” is not a 4-letter word.

Tip of the Day:

Switch to recycled toilet paper:

Seventh Generation sells individual rolls at your nearest green market or Whole Foods type store. You’ll help save trees, landfill space, and water. Your future children will give you a pat on the back. Ok, maybe that’s going a little too far. But, this is one way to take a step in the right generation. Our planet needs some rescue, and you could be the superhero….

from sanster with luv,
Dubya and politicians better heed the warnings.
Bloomberg/hillary/obama/kucinic/edwards/and richardson could really take the time out to think green on a personal level, and on their larger platforms as well. It might make the difference this election.

Jokes aside, look out for my posts on global warming, and WHAT YOU CAN DO to MAKE A DIFFERENCE

xo, as always adoring fans of all things GREEN. -sanster says teach GREEN.

This book by Laurie David is full of great snippets such as:
Things Go Better with Coke
December 2,2005
Polar bears live in the Arctic and are totally reliant on sea ice, which is vanishing faster than previously expected. For every week of winter lost due to global warming, adult polar bears lose twenty-two pounds because their food supply is so scarce. And thinner bears mean fewer cubs. Starting to get the picture? Not very soft and cuddly, is it?

Penguins face a similar plight. A few years ago, when two giant icebergs broke off the Antarctic ice sheet, it blocked the route from their breeding colonies to their feeding areas. As a result, they had to walk an extra thirty miles to reach food—no small task given that a penguin’s average speed is one mile per hour. Maybe it’s time for corporate America to consider protecting a species that has been such a profitable sales tool.

Sanster.net hook:
–How many films have made these adorable animals the main protagonists?? It’s not just coke, it’s Disney, and merchandisers. The march of penguins is becoming the March of Bhutan. For the sake of the penguins and the polar bears, please act local, think global, and be mean and green. think about your carbon paths, re-use your plastic bags, and think of creative ways to recycle and re-use.
