I’m off to Mammoth tomorrow for a ski trip. Ta Ta.
This evening I had dinner at SLS. Ferran Adria is pure genius. Liquid essence of olive is quite delightful.

Live iPhone musical performance – Kids by MGMT played on iPhones and iPod Touches

This is pretty cool. I just downloaded Ocarina which is one of the applications that allows you to use your Iphone like a wind instrument. Totally Mentalist!

Syracuse Defeats UConn in a Marathon Game March 13, 2009

This is what I watched last night….nearly 4 hours of college basketball.

So I hardly ever watch college basketball, but my co-worker is a die-hard Syracuse fan. So last night I was at Wolfgang’s for a game that lasted 3 hours 46 minutes in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament…By the first overtime, I was already yelling at the screen broadcasting ESPN in HD. Little did we know, the game would go into 6 overtimes! By the way, the hi-tech bidet system in the restroom of Wolfgang’s is definitely worth a try – a very civilized way to do the powder room deeds.

This site also got me thinking that the one reason I might wait to buy an iphone is this: If Mac rumors has it right, there might be a solar enabled iphone. Holy shit! A mini green machine!

According to the site MacRumors, Apple have apparently filed a patent application to investigate the use of solar cells in their mobile devices, including the iphone and portable computers.

This band of brothers plays at the Hollywood Farmer’s market between 12 and 1. The have Trombone/Drum/Trumpet players, and one guy has those foot pads to be able to do percussion with his foot. And they dress like it’s the 20s or ’30s. Check them out. You will be entertained! They play in between Selma and Sunset on Ivar, across from Space 15 Twenty where they have that great Architecture Bookstore

This is what it says on their site:
In 1989, in the encroaching mountains of Serbia or Tennessee, an idea occurred between two brothers; or rather, a quixotic dream: to build a bridge from Turkey to Europe. This bridge would be lined with tapestries and populated by a thousand great white birds. Soaring over the Mediterranean sea, as it were, commuters would be flanked by low growing patches of colorful flora. The bridge would be a swath of color and light, a paintbrush stroke between continents, between cultures, between civilizations. On each independence day of each independent country, elaborate displays of fireworks would erupt from the bridge and the Christmas lights would crawl across the bridge like festive veins of ivy on the eves of all the world’s favorite holidays.

The brothers were pleased by their idea, and so they set off to play music in the streets, that they may raise the funds (approximately $85 billion would do) from the hard-earned pockets and accounts of the lives they one day hope to improve.

Twit for Twat, Tweetering my thumbs as sanstrella March 9, 2009

So in case you care, I now have two Twitter accounts. Why you, ask? Well it is not because of have a secret identity. Like a weetard, I forgot my first password for my classic sanster666, so I’ll be using sanstrella, which I think sounds much better anyway – gutteral and alliterate…

i love her country twang… March 9, 2009

Filed under: Indie Rawks and Gems! — sanster @ 6:27 am

I went to amoeba this weekend to get the new Neko Case album Middle Cyclone and was reminded again that she is in fact classified as country. So be it. I happen to like some country drawl, so slow and hypnotic that you feel in fact, it is true that a TORNADO COULD love you. “Spider webs stuck in my lashes”….This is Neko Case, and I am enamored. I’m stoked and choked over it all.

I love the early wind music box chimes that begins the song “The Next Time You Say Forever.” And, don’t be alarmed by the bonus track if it brings you to the cold chill of sleeping in a tent outside in the woods. The chirp of the crickets are just coming from your player.

Her last album, “Fox Confessor Brings the Flood” is still my go to sleepy time music.
